Rubrics

Rubrics are a way for teachers to lay out the expecations for the students in advance.  In this way nothing is a surprise to the student (or parent) when individual scores are recorded in the gradebook and/or the overall final trimester grade is posted and mailed home.  There are three basic rubrics used in the Effective Reading course.  They are:

Effective Reading Class Particpation/Effort Rubricthis is the largest chunk of the overall course grade.  No progress in reading skill development will occur if the student is not putting forth their best work at all times.

Accelerated Reader Quiz Rubricsthe expectations increase each trimester as students become more familiar with the program

Effective Reading Rubric Scale - this is used for most in class assignments and all quizzes and tests

Should there be any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me so that we can clarify the expectaions in advance of their being an issue.
